Lexi Darrah Memorial Fund

Description

On behalf of both the Darrah Family and the entire Missions in the Amazon organization, we would like to thank you for your generous donation to Lexi’s Memorial Fund!

In Lexi’s two trips with us, she touched hundreds of peoples’ lives. Her compassionate heart and joy-filled Spirit allowed her to break down the walls of children in desperate need of the love of Christ; and to have someone who traveled thousands of miles to passionately love, care for, and play with their children, impacted the children’s parents as well. To this day her memory lives on, with many children asking about her and talking about the great time they had together. It is truly an honor to partner with you in expanding upon the impact that Lexi has made in the Amazon!

After a couple of months praying and seeking discernment on what the memorial should be, Mike, Kris, Cassidy, Macey, and David have decided that they would like to have a bakery and community center built in the village of Concordia in Lexi’s name. The Darrah family have included a message of gratitude:

“We want to personally thank you for your contribution to Missions in the Amazon. Lexi had a big heart for the Peruvians and the ministry at the Congreso. The last time she left, the goodbyes were emotional and she shed many tears. We are so happy that her memory will live on in a place that meant so much to her. Thank you for being a part of this exciting project and partnering together with us to help further God’s kingdom in Peru!”

– Mike, Kris, Cassidy, Macey, and David Darrah

Along with the direct correlation of Lexi’s passion and love of baking, the Darrah’s loved the symbolism of a community center being a place to go to find love and support no matter what a villager may be going through. You can read more about the project in the attached page.

In closing, we invite you to stay updated on the progress of Lexi’s memorial and ask that you continue praying for the Darrah family. We have created a Facebook Group named: Lexi Darrah’s Missions in the Amazon Memorial Fund. To join, simply go to Facebook and type in the name of the group in the search bar and select “Join”! By having this group, we will be able to upload photos throughout the construction, keep you informed on how far we are away from reaching our funding goal, and provide a forum for prayers and discussion for everyone that is a part of this memorial. Oh, and one more thing, the Darrah’s are considering organizing a family and friends mission trip down to the Amazon to dedicate Lexi’s memorial within the next year, and would love to have you come with! So please join this group that we have created and stay connected with the latest news about Lexi’s Memorial.

If you are looking for other ways to be a part of the memorial fund, there are several ways. The first being prayer. Lexi’s family and friends are still in need of prayers of peace and healing, and we will forward any messages or emails along to them, if you would like to leave them here. If you would also send prayers down to the Missions in the Amazon team and the hundreds of villagers that Lexi impacted, that would be greatly appreciated.

Secondly, you can give financially to the fund here on this page (online), or sending a check to the following address:

Checks made to “Missions in the Amazon”.
(*If you send a check, please include “Lexi Darrah Memorial Fund” on a post-it note/letter attached to the check. Do not write anything on the memo line due to IRS regulations. It would also be helpful if you send us an email letting us know that you have sent a check, so we can be looking for it: Jason.reiswig@missionsintheamazon.com)
