Nuevo Union Water Treatment Facility

$13,000 of $13,000 raised

Every day, millions of villagers throughout the Peruvian Amazon live without access to clean water. In fact, out of a population of 34 million people in Peru, 16 million people (48% of the population) lack access to safe water and 14 million people (42%) lack access to a safe toilet.

Without access to clean water, villagers are exposed to waterborne illnesses like typhoid fever, cholera, giardia, dysentery, E. Coli, and salmonella. Beyond that, because of their compromised immune systems, the same villagers are vulnerable to other deadly diseases, like dengue fever and malaria. All of these deadly diseases are often caused by eating or drinking contaminated food or water. Some of them, can even kill within hours. And the worst part of this tragic narrative, each of these diseases are preventable.

Public health workers are saying it is becoming more frequent that villages are being affected by these diseases. This devastation is linked to increasingly frequent and extreme weather events, a shortage of vaccines, but most critically a lack of clean water, sanitation and hygiene.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Although our communities are in the some of the most remote regions of the Amazon and most have no access to piped/treated drinking water or safe human waste disposal, we are actively teaching about the risks of unclean water and building water treatment facilities where they are most needed.

By providing to this initiative, you will actively be supporting one of the most influential communities in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest Basin. Through the building of a water treatment facility in Nuevo Union, we aim to educate key leaders on the perils of using unclean water in daily activities. We will also supply containers that will allow for easy transportation of clean water back to their homes where they can utilize the treated, clean water for cooking, sanitation, wounds treatment, and cleaning of household tools.

We are so grateful for the community of Authentic Life Church and look forward to partnering with you in this initiative.
